Ceremonies for Special Occasions
This category of ceremonies can only be limited by your imagination.
Ceremonies can be written for pretty much any occasion! Whether it be a
milestone birthday, the re-affirmation of your marriage vows,
commitment ceremonies, after a citizenship ceremony, celebrating our
country, blessing a home or an opening ceremony.
I am humbled in my work as a participant in these rituals of existence.
My work as a community celebrant deepens me as a person.
It is emotional work which expands my soul. I am taken into the presence
of profound moments that can only be described as privileged and
honoured.
Your happiness and enthusiasm for ceremony is
infectious!
Ceremony Example
Here is an example of a simple, but important
spiritual civil blessing of a memorial. I officiated
at the unveiling of a memorial wall at
Ellangowan 10 March 2012; this is some of what
I said.
“Our forebears have left us a significant gift - it’s
this day, it’s progress, and it’s each other, and lots of
memories.
Today we will celebrate the fact that ordinary people in ordinary places do
extraordinary things that can make a difference to the lives of other people.
We will celebrate the fact that our area here has produced these people
who lived in such a way that produced a clear foot print in the journey of
our history.
They have left a mark behind them in the life of our community.
May this be a place of connection with the life of our past, a reminder of
possible blossoming and growings, and of a new energy and hope.
May it touch each life with an earthiness, grounding in its reality, but
inviting peace and recreation for each new day.
If we have some words or phrases which describe our hopes for this
memorial, I would suggest love, peace, reflection, connection and spirit”.
Other Ceremonies
We were so pleased to
have invited Shirley to
provide a non-
denominational civil
blessing for the opening of
our Memorial Wall. Shirley
presented a ceremony that
had spiritual meaning and
a sincerity that touched
the hearts of those
present.
